Today my dad would have celebrated his 103rd Birthday…. This morning I ran into this post that I made 4 years ago on Facebook. I thought I’d share it with you….
Another pic of my Dad in front of our house. He built the house from adobe that he made. The home wasn’t the best looking home in town, but it was home to us. Friends and family were always welcome here. And if migrant workers passed by on foot, my father would always offer them water and have my mom make burritos to feed them. Most evenings you could hear my dad singing from his hymn book and if I wasn’t busy he’d ask me to accompany him on the piano. Then before he’d go to bed he’d pray for each of his kids by name… What I’d do to experience that just one more time…. #home #HappyBdayDad #memories #heritage
Those are great memories! Happy Birthday to your Dad! 😊

Wonderful post, John, and very touching tribute to your father. As a father, I can only pray that my son will remember with such love and admiration when I leave this earth. Thanks so much for posting this.

I, too, was blessed with a wonderful, hard working, God-loving father whom I strive to emulate every day so I know of what you speak. I hear testimonies all the time from people who weren’t as blessed and I thank God for my Dad. I’ll see him again in God’s glorious kingdom. He’ll probably be looking for something he can fix…

Thank you so much. There is so much that I learned from him. However, there were also very many struggles that we faced due to our age difference (He was 61 when I was born). Nevertheless, God’s grace and love saw us through. Grateful that he raised me in the love and instruction of Jesus Christ.

What a great testimony to your Father John. I think the greatest testimony that we can leave our children is this – My Dad loved God, he loved us, and he loved people. What a day it will be at the meeting in the sky! Thanks for sharing this. Encourages me to be a better man.
