Be honest with yourself

I had lofty goals, but I couldn’t reach them. As hard as I tried, I fell short time and time again. As could be expected, I grew tired, weary, and eventually gave up hope.

Had I not walked through a season of darkness, I would have never encountered the reason behind my disappointment. You see, while I was clear about my desired destination, I was not honest about my circumstances. I was quick to speak about where I wanted to be. Yet I was ashamed to speak of my failures and disappointments. Instead of clearing a path for a healthy future, I lived a life cluttered with busyness and uninvited drama. I had traded in healthy boundaries for an “Open” sign to any and every type of harm.

In hindsight, I recognize that I really wanted was health, happiness, purpose, personal growth, authentic friendships, and intimacy with God. Nevertheless, I had settled for bad habits, sadness, isolation, and sin.

Today I live differently. I’m clear of where I’m at and clear of where I’m headed.

It is my desire to be all that God created me to be.

I desire the same for you.

Unapologetically yours,

John Eli
