Growing up I was taught that it was wrong for men to express their feelings. One one side I had a cultural expectation placed on me that men should not cry. And the pendulum swung the exact opposite direction in other social circles where I was taught that expressing anger was inappropriate. The end result was that I repressed my feelings. It took me a long time, and many heartaches to learn that “feelings” are not my enemy. In fact they are part of the human experience. To repress them is to deny my humanity. If I truly believe that I am made in the image of God then that includes my ability to feel too.

Hi john I agree! And i tend to be very expressive however I wear my heart on my sleeve and that seems to not always be a good thing. However I will not apologize for being myself as I am one whom is honest about who i am and what i feel even if it bites me in the rear.
